New Year, New You, New Discipline

New year, new you! Have you begun a new health, diet, or exercise routine to help you work towards your goals for 2021? You probably feel invigorated right now! You’re beginning the transformation to living a healthier life… one step closer!

Harness that motivation and that energy and let it launch you into 2021. Be prepared for the long road ahead. You won’t always be motivated. You won’t always have the energy. It’s important to mentally prepare for the times when you don’t feel like sticking to your new routine and for the times when you fall off the wagon and need to get back on. You have motivation and energy right now. Use that to achieve discipline.

Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even if you don’t want to do it. We don’t always feel like going to work, but we have to. We don’t always feel like cleaning the house or going grocery shopping, but we have to. We have established a routine and have set expectations for ourselves and are disciplined to follow that routine to meet those expectations. Think about your 2021 goal the same way.

Use your energy right now and establish those routines and habits. Make then nonnegotiable. Write them down. Schedule them into your day. Make them so engrained in your daily life that even when you don’t want to do the thing, you have the discipline to get it done. You got this!!
