Here are 5 simple things that you can incorporate into your life right now to help set yourself up for success toward reaching your goals:

  1. Journal - Write down what you’re experiencing right now and along the way. Write down your motivation and how good you feel now that you’ve begun working toward your goal. Include details about what is working (or not working), lessons you’ve learned, things you’ve done to set yourself up for success, and more. Be detailed and specific. Also, include motivational details or quotes that your future self will thank you for!

  2. Document your progress - What positive things are you noticing so far? Give yourself a score on a scale of 1-10 for how good you feel, the progress you’re making, your progress toward reaching your goal.

  3. Celebrate! - Celebrate and appreciate the small victories and milestones along the way! Plan something that is meaningful to you like getting your nails done, shopping, or going out for coffee with a friend.

  4. Manage Your Stress - Throughout your day big and small things are filling up your stress cup. We are only human. We can only handle so much. But, if we take the time to do self care and manage our stress, we can continually dump a little bit out of our stress cup so it doesn’t overflow. Schedule time in your day to close your eyes and do some deep breathing or a guided relaxation, even just a few minutes helps! Also, schedule some time each week to have some restorative you time like taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, or anything that makes you feel relaxed.

  5. Appreciate The Journey - It’s not only about the end goal. It’s about the process to get to the goal. Think about and appreciate all of the hard work, time, and effort you are putting into reaching your goal. Reflect upon all of the personal growth and positive changes that are occurring in your life. Express gratitude to yourself for everything you’ve done thus far.
